We don’t get to work with black and white processing much, so it was a good opportunity to dust off some old skills recently for a shoot for American Crew.
We’d like to think that we’ve improved our methods and technique for hair photography over the shoots we’ve done. Still, it’s not the easiest of shoots to get right. The balance between picking up the right textures and applying light in the hair itself while also making the model look good (but not causing distraction), can be trickier than you might think.
Caroline Matthews and Simon Eden for the Bad Barnett Barbers styled this shoot and we’re pretty happy with how the final images turned out. As they’re being entered into a competition, we can’t publish the chosen images just yet – but here’s one of our favourite tests from the day.
What do you think?
Photographers; what are your “good hair” techniques?
We’d love to hear your comments.
